We as #Pakistanis continue to this day ‘hue and cry’ over the 1992 destruction of Babri Masjid at the hands of extremists in India but there remains a ‘collective silence’ across Pakistan over the destruction of it’s own 150 year old Ahmadi place of worship (Bait Ul Mubarik) in Sialkot.
There remains no difference between those Hindutva bigots who destroyed Babri Mosque in 1992 and those Islamist tyrants who destroyed Bait Ul Mubarik worship place just a day before, both were motivated by an ideology of hate all in the name of religion.
This State must stop pretending like it even cares about the people of Palestine, Kashmir, Syria and the list goes on if it can’t even set a leash on it’s own ‘state sponsored persecution’ of religious and ethnic minorities. Suffocation of soul, of mind and of body is what results in such a state of suppression, violence and intolerance against everything that is termed as haraam or forbidden to follow, read or even think about.
Your own people need you #Pakistan, there was a time when the founder of this nation – Quaid e Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah famously read out a speech on 11 August, 1947, where he said that: “You are free; you are free to go to your temples. You are free to go to your mosques or to any other places of worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion, caste or creed—that has nothing to do with the business of the state.”
But it seems now that Jinnah’s words only lay waste in the rubble, this State does interfere with your ‘freedom’. Your ‘freedom’ to worship, to protest, to think or to love all remain acts of defiance against a system that seems to grow itself on hate, intolerance and injustice.
To counter this hate is to defy, to counter this intolerance is to be tolerant, to counter this injustice is to be just. This is the only way to fight a State ideology that harbors hate and disgust for it’s own people, there is no nation state on Earth where institutionalized discrimination against it’s minorities is so ingrained.
Remember your defeaning silence against such incidents of ‘hate, intolerance and injustice’ only adds fuel to the fire, because adversaries don’t exist they are created. Today it’s the Ahmadis tomorrow it can be you!
